Transforming Lives in El Suyate: A Ministry of Hope
We are the Paiz Álvarez family: Herbert, Déborah, Rebecca and Valery. For more than 15
years, our heart has been in El Suyate, a community in eastern Guatemala.
Our Mission:
Breaking the cycle of poverty and abuse: We started with visits with Canadian volunteers,
attending to health and construction needs and providing special support.
Promoting education: We created a scholarship program that has allowed young people to
pursue diversified studies and university degrees, becoming agents of change for their families and the community.
Develop community leadership: We have formed a solid group of volunteers, young people and mothers who, having been part of the program, now lead and serve.
Share the Gospel: We make regular visits to share the Word of God, fostering a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ.
Involve the new generations: We believe in serving by example, which is why our daughters
have been actively involved from a young age.
We long for a local church: Our desire is to see the birth of a community of faith in El Suyate,
where families unite to glorify God.
Impact:
Transformed young people who are now professionals and leaders.
Strengthened communities with committed volunteers.
Families experiencing the love and hope of the Gospel.
